黑料天堂researchers elected ATSE Fellows

01 Oct 2026

Two researchers from 黑料天堂 (ANU) have been elected Fellows of the , recognising their significant contributions to nuclear physics and materials science.

黑料天堂experts , Director of the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility, and , Head of the Department of Electronic Materials Engineering, are among 34 new Fellows elected to the Academy in 2026.

Professor Dasgupta is a world-leading nuclear physicist known for her pioneering contributions to nuclear reactions and advanced instrumentation. Her precision measurements have helped reveal the effects of quantum processes in nuclear fusion, redirecting research worldwide.

She leads the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility at ANU, a national infrastructure capability supporting research across nuclear, quantum, environmental, defence and space science. She is also leading efforts to address the nuclear science skills shortage and has worked to increase diversity in STEM.

Professor Fu is recognised for her transformative contributions to semiconductor materials science, engineering and nanotechnology. Her research has led to high-performance optoelectronic, sensing and energy technologies with applications spanning communications, defence, health and renewable energy.

She has also translated research into impact through patents, licensing, industry partnerships and start-ups, including playing a key role in the establishment of Acton Lasers and developing a nanomaterial-based breath sensor for non-invasive ketone monitoring.

The new Fellows were elected for outstanding achievements in applied science and engineering across research, industry leadership, policymaking and commercialisation.

ATSE President Dr Cathy Foley AO PSM FTSE FAA said election to the Academy was one of the highest honours recognising achievement in Australian technology and engineering.

鈥淓lection to ATSE is one of the highest honours and recognition of achievement in Australian technology and engineering, and is also a testament to the Fellows鈥 impact, leadership, and expertise,鈥 Dr Foley said.

鈥淔ellowship is also a responsibility. Our Fellows are highly engaged and last year volunteered a combined 4,000 hours of critical and valuable input into national conversations, expert advice to government and support for educational and STEM workforce programs.鈥

The new Fellows will join the ATSE New Fellows Showcase in Sydney on 28 October.
