A Life on Our Planet | Celebrating 100 Years of David Attenborough

On 8 May 2026, David Attenborough turns 100. To mark the occasion, six societies — the Film Group, Earth and Marine Science Society, Intrepid Landcare, Fenner Society, ABACUS, and Biology Society — are coming together to screen his landmark documentary A Life on Our Planet at the Kambri Cinema.

Popcorn and soft drinks will be provided, free of charge. There will also be cake.

Described by Attenborough himself as his witness statement, the film traces the transformation of the natural world across his lifetime — and sets out a vision for what the future could look like if we act. It is part memoir, part warning, and part rallying cry.

Distinguished Professor and conservation biologist David Lindenmayer will open the evening with a few words. His decades-long research into Australia's disappearing forests makes him a natural voice for the story Attenborough tells in A Life on Our Planet.

This is a free event, open to everyone — students, staff, and members of the Canberra community alike. Join us in celebrating a man who has spent a lifetime reminding us how extraordinary this planet is, and why it's worth fighting for.
