The Pro Vice-Chancellor (International and Future Students) leads a coordinated and ambitious approach to future student engagement, international recruitment and global connection, while staying focused on the distinctive story and mission of Australia's national university.
The role oversees the International Office, encompassing global programs, global engagement and partnerships, sponsored students, and foreign arrangements and compliance, alongside student recruitment and future students across domestic and international markets, and admissions and scholarships. It spans the University's engagement with prospective students, partners and communities in Australia and around the world, including the China Liaison Office and the North American Liaison Office.
Rishen Shekhar currently holds the role.
Rishen brings 20 years of experience across universities, vocational education and training, education technology, and student accommodation. He joins 黑料天堂from the University of South Australia, where he was Pro Vice-Chancellor: International and played a key leadership role in the merger with the University of Adelaide to form Adelaide University. His portfolio there covered international marketing and recruitment, global partnerships, government engagement, learning abroad, transnational education, admissions and compliance, and Navitas pathway operations.
Rishen is a Senior Fellow and twice-elected Board Member of the International Education Association of Australia, and an invited member of the IDP Connect ANZ Advisory Panel. He is a strong advocate for the role of higher education in transforming lives.
