The Movie Teller – free screening

Join the ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃFilm Group for a FREE encore screening of The Movie Teller, one of the highlights of the recent Latin American Film Festival, presented in partnership with the Embassy of Chile. No registration or membership required.

In 1966, in a remote Chilean mining town, Medardo (Antonio de La Torre), his wife María Magnolia (Bérénice Bejo) and their four young children eagerly await their weekly visit to the cinema each Sunday. But when Medardo is injured in the mines and their finances begin to dwindle, young María Margarita (Sara Becker) is tasked with going to the cinema alone and recounting the film for the rest her the family afterwards. Excelling at this task with an almost magical talent, her captivating recitals soon draw a wider audience of poor townspeople desperate for escape from their desolate reality.

Directed by Danish filmmaker Lone Scherfig (An Education) and based on the novel by Hernán Rivera Letelier, The Movie Teller is a glorious love letter to cinema and the power of storytelling.
