A Day in the Life of a Cyber Security Analyst

Have you ever wondered about what happens when a hacker tries to hack a big organisation? Is someone paying attention? Who? How?

Come along to 'A Day in the Life of a Cyber Security Analyst' to find out! You'll listen to one of the University's very own cyber security analysts talk about what it's like working to identify malicious behaviour and make sure it doesn't spread to the rest of the University network.

We'll discuss some high-level concepts that are important in understanding how cyber threat actors work, and so used to inform what we do to protect against them as a 'Security Operations Centre'.

For the cyber nerds out there, we'll also be going through what is threat hunting and threat intelligence, what an alert is and why it's the start to uncovering active cyber intrusions, the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and a couple of other things… and if that was gobledegook to you, don't worry: no technical experience or expertise will be necessary to understand what we'll be talking about. Hope to see you there!
