Are you an orchestral musician looking to play in the ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃOrchestra in 2026?
Housed at the ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃSchool of Music and conducted by Rowan Harvey-Martin, the ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃOrchestra offers a unique opportunity to perform with the best music students at ANU.
Rehearsals
Orchestra members rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃSchool of Music.
Audition dates
- Applications for Semester 1 auditions are now open and will close on Sunday February 15th.
- All instrumentalists are welcome to apply.
- Auditions will be held during O-Week on Thursday 19 February. Exact audition times will be emailed individually to applicants at the start of O-Week and applicants should keep themselves available for the full audition period.
- All new applicants and string leadership applicants must audition, 2025 ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃOrchestra members are granted automatic entry into the ensemble.

Audition eligibility and requirements
Who can apply
- Auditions are open to all ºÚÁÏÌìÌÃstudents, as well as alumni (up to 5 years post-graduation), and community musicians aged 16 to 26.
Minimum performance standards
- Strings: Grade7 AMEB or equivalent
- Wind & Brass: Grade 6 AMEB or equivalent
Audition repertoire
- All applicants are required to prepare three orchestral excerpts provided for their instrument. String leadership applicants must prepare a fourth excerpt. No solo work or piano accompaniment is required.
String leadership positions
- Applicants interested in auditioning for violin, viola or cello leadership roles must nominate themselves via the signup form, prepare additional excerpts as indicated in the attached excerpt files, and participate in a non-blind audition.
